About the Summit

<aside> 🗻 This is a two-night event that aims to bring together individuals who are thinking carefully about some of the world's biggest problems, taking impactful action to solve them, or exploring ways to do so. Attendees can share knowledge, network, and explore collaboration opportunities with like-minded people and organizations from Nigeria, Africa, and other international participants.

The Summit is organized by EA Nigeria, with the support of the Centre for Effective Altruism Event Team.

What are the aims of the Summit?

<aside> 🎯 The Summit aims to promote impactful values alliance practice by connecting individuals and providing opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and exploring collaboration opportunities.

Who can attend?

<aside> 💫 This summit is open to individuals from Nigeria, Africa, or other international locations who are thinking carefully about some of the world’s biggest problems, taking concrete actions to solve them, or exploring ways to do so. We expect to welcome 100+ individuals at the summit, emphasis will be given to the following categories of individuals:

• Existing members of the EA Nigeria community or Nigerian individuals familiar with effective altruism.
• African Individuals who are familiar with and engaging with the EA community
• Individuals (International or local) running or working for EA-aligned projects with operations in Nigeria or other African states.
• International individuals who could contribute to the event's sessions.

Unfortunately, we have limited capacity for the Summit so we will have to choose who we accept based on who we think would get the most out of it.

However, these are not exhaustive and we encourage you to apply even if you are in doubt!

Where and when will it be held?

<aside> 🌳 The Summit will be held on September 6th and 7th, 2024, at the Chida Event Center in Utako, Abuja.

How much does it cost?

<aside> ❔ The Summit is free of charge to all attendees. Meals will be provided on the summit days (Breakfast, Launch, and dinner). We may be able to provide some financial assistance based on a request to support transport and accommodation, but only in some cases, and we are limited on the amount we can offer.

Other FAQ

• How many people are going to the Summit? We expect 100+ attendees
• Can I come for only part of the time? Desirably, attendees to participate in all two days of summits, however, in some cases, an attendee can join part of the summit. Just let us know in the registration form if that’s your case.
• Can I do other work while at the Summit? Yes, we will make arrangements for a working area.
• How busy will the agenda be? There would be speakers, panels, discussions, and networking sessions.
• Can EA Nigeria support visas for international individuals? Yes, we can provide invitation letters for a visitor visa for the summit for international individuals. Learn more about obtaining a Nigeria Visitor Visa here.
